The French divide opinions, but one thing is certain: Food is important in France. It shows everywhere, from the amount of small restaurants to how long lunch breaks can take.
And then there are the market places. Oh la la, the market places! Covered permanent ones, open food markets and small local food stands on the streets, you name it. I just love the way any boulevard can be turned to a lively open market that will be totally gone the next day. That is real pop-up food for you.
The best part is how the food is displayed. Every chop, fish and fruit is carefully set to its place as if it would be the most important ingredient in the meal you are planning. It makes me happy, even if I just walk by.
This week’s design award goes to all those who care about how food is presented.
